About Lunar Calendar

Our mission

CalendarioLunar.co was built to offer a practical, fast and accessible tool for looking up the moon phase on any day, in any timezone, without registration or intrusive ads. We bring together the annual calendar, today's moon, full moon dates and an educational guide on the lunar cycle in one place.

How we calculate moon phases

We use a local synodic model based on the average cycle of 29 days, 12 hours and 44 minutes between two consecutive new moons. Starting from a known reference date, we compute the approximate position of the Moon in its cycle for any day between 1924 and 2100.

⚠ Precision notice: This model is an approximation. Results may differ by ±1 day from official ephemerides published by USNO (United States Naval Observatory) or JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory), which use complex gravitational models. For professional uses — navigation, astronomy or tides — we recommend consulting official sources.

Precision and limitations

  • Phases are shown as a civil day, not an exact instant. A full moon at 11:55 PM on Monday is shown on Monday; if it occurs at 12:05 AM Tuesday, it shows on Tuesday.
  • Moonrise and moonset times are not available in this version of the site.
  • Timezone affects which civil day is shown. Use the timezone selector on the home page to get the most relevant result for your location.
  • Calendars for years far from the present (before 1970 or after 2030) have lower reliability due to accumulated small deviations in the model.

Editorial content

Our blog publishes articles on lunar culture, traditions, popular astronomy and curiosities related to the lunar cycle. Articles are for informational and cultural purposes. We do not replace medical, agricultural, nautical or any other professional advice. When popular beliefs or traditions are mentioned, we present them as such, clearly separated from scientific evidence.

Editorial team

CalendarioLunar.co is developed and maintained by an independent team. All articles are reviewed editorially before publication.
